Well it's that time again. The new season is nearly upon us and preparation is already underway. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work & support. I have really enjoyed what turned out to be a surprisingly good season. 6th place was a very good finish under difficult circumstances. I hope this gives us a good platform to build on to aim for a higher place this term.

I think we are starting to create a good team spirit amongst the lads. I feel this is one of the most vital areas when building a team and one that is overlooked by so many managers. Equally important is the spirit and collectiveness of everyone off the pitch. In this I include Manager, Coach, Parents, Grandparents, Auntie, Uncle, Brother, Sister and anyone else who comes to watch the boys play their football. Positive encouragement & support is what the lads need to hear. Keep telling them how good they are and eventually they will start to believe it. Watch their confidence grow.

There are of course a couple of people I forgot to thank publicly for their help. Firstly Ade. You are a brilliant coach and fantastic with the lads. Your tactical awareness and knowledge of the game is outstanding for someone so young. I really appreciate your input and help. Thanks mate. Secondly my good lady wife Debbie. Behind every man who thinks he can do it is a woman who actually does. Thank you to my very own Microsoft Office Debbie.

Onward and upwards. A new season brings a new kit. Thank you kindly to MORGAN TIMBER & BOARDS of Kidderminster for your sponsorship this year. The new kit will be revealed at our first game of the season on September 6th. Joining us at this game will be two of the bosses of Morgan's. Lets hope we can impress the them with a good performance.

We have 3 friendly fixtures during our pre-season preparation. Firstly we welcome Northside Tigers to Ribbesford Meadows on Saturday 9th August. They are a new addition to the Stourport Boys League who are run by Ade Wise. Ade always prepares his teams very well and I'm sure this will be a tough opening test for us.

Next up are Mostyn Rangers on Saturday 16th August. I hold Mostyn very dear as I played for them for 5 years between U11's & U16's. Mostyn can count themselves very unlucky to have lost 1-0 & 2-1 to us over the season with last minute goals on both occasions. I know Justin has had his lads training all summer so they will be looking to redress the balance. Finally we visit Warndon Whippets at Perdiswell  Leisure Centre on Saturday 23rd August. Having played against Anthony's team twice we have yet to produce a winner, but there should be plenty of goals if previous encounters are anything to go by having drawn 2-2 at home and 3-3 away.

Here's to a successful and more importantly, enjoyable, season.

HALF TIME 1  -  0

ANOTHER HOME GAME ANOTHER VICTORY AND ROONE IS STILL LOOKING FOR THAT ELUSIVE GOAL!

WITH AIDAN WILKINSON UP FRONT AND BRAD DAVIES IN CENTRAL MIDFIELD BEWDLEY STARTED DELIBERATELY SLOWLY. PASSING AND MOVEMENT FROM BOTH TEAMS WERE POSITIVE IN THE INITIAL STAGES OF THE GAME, PUNCTUATED WITH AN EXCITING RUN AND SHOT FROM BRAD. RYAN WINTERS WAS CALLED INTO ACTION AS HE SAVED CONFIDENTLY AND THEN BRAD WRIGGLED THROUGH ONTO GOAL ONLY FOR THE KEEPER TO SAVE WITH HIS FEET. A FURTHER SAVE FROM RYAN SPURRED THE LADS ON AND AS THE BALL BOUNCED INVITINGLY FOR BRAD HE LASHED AT THE BALL AND THEN WATCHED IT CURL OVER THE OUTSTRETCHED HANDS OF THE TIGERS KEEPER INTO THE NET. BEWDLEY CONTINUED TO PRESS AND ADAM ROPER AND SAMMY LESTER BOTH HAD GOOD OPPORTUNITIES SAVED BY THE AWAY GOALIE.

THE SECOND HALF SAW THE TIGERS PRESS EARLY ON FOR AN EQUALIZER. DANNY WILLIAMS REPLACED AIDAN WILKINSON AND ADOPTED HIS FAVOURED POSITION IN MIDFIELD AS BRAD MOVED UP FRONT. THE TWO SOON COMBINED WHEN DANNY CROSSED FOR BRAD WHO MISS HIT HIS SHOT AND THE KEEPER FUMBLED THE BALL INTO THE NET. BEWDLEY LOOKED NEVER IN ANY DANGER FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE GAME. HENRY KOWALIK REPLACED WAYNE TIPPER AND BRAD REVERTED TO MIDFIELD, BEFORE BEING REPLACED IN TURN BY AIDAN.

THIS WAS A STEADY STRONG AND SENSIBLE PERFORMANCE WITH AN EXCELLENT CONTRIBUTION FROM BRAD DAVIES.

UNFORTUNATELY ROONE IS STILL LOOKING FOR THAT ELUSIVE GOAL.
