Under 9s Result Mostyn Rangers 1 Bewdley Town 0 20/12/08

 

With Ben replacing Dan who was ill and Matt although warmed up, was not fit enough to start, Sam dropped into his place with Greg playing up front, the rest of the team fielded their normal positions. Play commenced with Bewdley having slightly the more possession with Jack putting in a long range shot that was effectively saved. With good team play an opening was created for Gregg to shoot, again saved very well by the Mostyn keeper. Shortly after Mostyn mounted an attack in where the forward had a bit of luck dribbling through a defenders legs but then finding an unmarked team member with an accurate pass who gave Nat the Bewdley keeper no chance with a fierce shot and resultant goal.   The second half started with Bewdley playing enthusiastically, however within a few minutes had to endure a number of attacks by Mostyn but defended well. A corner saw the ball narrowly go over the bar from an unchallenged acrobatic header. Shortly afterwards the same Mostyn attacker shot just wide as a result of another good build up. Bewdley then managed to regain some composure and started to attack again and were awarded a penalty (generous from where the reporter was standing) as a result of handball 2 minutes from time. Although the penalty was struck well the ball went the wrong side of the post.
