FIRST TEAM SQUAD

Goalkeepers:

Tom Harper – Tom came through from our  Reserve Team and has firmly established himself as the No. 1 choice Goalkeeper and has been responsible many times over for keeping us in the game

Darren Steadman – Darren has agreed to sign as cover and to do some goalkeeper coaching with the goalkeepers. The experience he brings with him will be invaluable.

Andy Lacey – Andy is one of the players that has progressed fro our Under 18 side. Due to a change in work commitments, Andy will not feature too much this season, but if  called upon you can be confident that he will not let the side down.

Defenders:

Dan Jones – Another product of the Under 18 side, Dan acquitted himself well playing regularly with the Sunday side and produced some very noteable performances last season and is rapidly becoming a Bewdley Legend!

John Hardiman – A stalwart of the side, John has been with the team for many years. His experience and commitment, together with his ‘dressing room spirit’ makes him an essential member of the squad.

Gary Middleton – One of the sweetest left foots to have graced Ribbesford Meadows, Gary can pick out of nowhere, defence splitting passes and coupled with his no nonsense tackling makes him one of the best Left backs in the league.

Luke Paskin – A new addition to the squad this season, joining us from Cup winning side Dudley Sports. A young defender who has shown that he has all the attributes to become one of the best defenders to put on a Bewdley shirt.

Sean Wright – Wrighty has been one of the most consistent performers since joining Bewdley and has just got better and better as he learns his trade, learning from his mistakes and putting them right, he continues to improve his game as each season passes. Voted Players Player last season.

Ben Drew – One word sums up Drewy – SOLID! Any attacker that comes up against Ben will surely know at the end of 90 minutes that they have been in a game.

Midfielders:

Steve Holt – Steve quietly goes about the job of working from box to box, defensively and attackingly popping up with spectacular goals out of nothing. As each season passes, Steve’s game improves and is sure to feature heavily this season.

Gavin Smith – An ‘engine’ in the side, Gav works tirelessly from the first whistle to the final whistle with great interplay with the forwards, popping up in the opponents penalty area one minute to score a goal, then can be seen making a goal line clearance in our own box.

Sam Pountney – A great member to any squad as he has been called upon to play in any position across the defence or midfield. You are always confident when picking Sam that he will give you 110% every minute he’s on the pitch.

Graham Abbiss – Technically one of the best players in the squad, great

vision, great technique and can pick a pass that makes the opposition look stupid.

Wayne Lacey – Wayne returns to the club after a spell out of Saturday football due to work commitments. Comfortable playing in defence or midfield, Wayne will be a useful member of the squad.

Craig Forbes – Returning back to Bewdley after some reclusive years in his cave, Craig has been a match winner on more than 1 occasion. He links well with the forwards and has become a very popular member of the squad

Simon Brooks – Simon joined us at the end of last season and has proved to be a worthy member of the squad. A right midfielder who has great vision and delivers great balls into dangerous positions

Dan Ludlow – Dan joined midway through last season and has shown everyone why he has played in Wolves and Harriers Youth Teams followed by a brief spell playing Pro football in New Zealand. He is an exciting addition to the squad and has been exceptional as an attacking wide player.

Ben McCloughlan – the most naturally gifted player in the team, favouring the right hand side, Ben’s wizardry on the ball is always a crowd pleaser and can produce a match winning cross or goal from nothing.

Mike Carter – Mike joins us from the very successful Sunday side after his week in - week out performances for them. He is tenacious and digs in deep when the going gets tough and has one or two tricks of his own up his sleeve which makes him very unpredictable when on the ball.

Russell Godfrey – A very pacey wide player/attacker, Russell will once again be pushing the rest of the players for a regular starting position in the side. With each season he has improved and is sure to figure regularly this season

Attackers:

Chris Hough – Nominated for best player in the league three times running speaks volumes of Houghy’s importance to the side. There is no other player at this level who can run with the ball under control as quick as him and he will be looking again to get 20+ goals this season.

Lewis Pountney – 30+ goals a season may sound what Lewi is all about, but ask any regular supporter or any of his team mates and you will find that it is his work rate during the game that wins him the admiration of everyone.

Jamie Hart – Another experienced forward that never gives defenders a moments peace, making countless runs pulling the oppositions defence apart and together with Lewi making one of the most formidable strike partnerships in the league.

Adam Hazeldine –Adam joins us from Saturday side Burlish Olympic where he has been top goalscorer for the last 3 seasons and now wants to try to make the next step up. In pre-season Adam has showed that he has deceptive pace and is very cool in front of goal.

Richard Burgess - Richard is one of the sharpest forwards in the league, his first touch and awareness of goal makes hime one of the most lethal strikers in the league. can control a ball instantly and turn on a penny that will leave defenders standing.
